So the first question is… why owning? Well, I recently arrived to Chicago as a visiting researcher at a University. Being a graphic designer and a professor of design I have tried to see this experience from the eyes of design.
     For me, design is a matter of re-understanding our relationship with the world through physical experience, so, whenever you start your life in a new place you face the challenge of transforming that new space into your home, as Heidegger pointed out, the only way to inhabit our world is buy building on it. Once you have transform your space it becomes your (your home)… so the risk of not transforming that space is that it never belongs to you and that you never belong there.
     For the next year I am planning to transform Chicago into my home, own it, so I can connect with the city; this blog is my journey of design, transformation and reflection about my temporary home in Chicago.
